We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager for direct sales operations within the south central region, targeting independent rental yard customers with a bundle of Volvo Products and Services, which includes: Compact and Compaction (including EMob machines), and select General Purpose Equipment aimed at the Rental Industry, along with related services.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to establish a new customer base, drive revenue growth, expand market share, attain unit and sales targets, and foster strong relationships within the independent rental yard customers. 

This position requires a strong understanding of the rental equipment and industry, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in direct sales and territory management.

This role and functions will also be part of a larger Team that focuses on Compact Equipment Sales Growth through all Channels to Market.










 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to penetrate the independent rental yard market, with a focus on increasing sales volume and market share.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships and trust with key decision-makers within independent rental yards. Understand customer needs, address concerns, and provide solutions to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify new customers and opportunities for growth and expansion within the independent rental yard segment. Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics.
  • Sales Activities / Forecasting / Reporting: Manage sales quotation, annual fleet planning requirements and order procurement process as necessary. 
    • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and reports for management review. Monitor sales performance metrics and take proactive measures to address any deviations from targets 
  • Support Activities: Coordinating service contacts, parts support, and sales training as needed to support accounts. Direct field uptime support activities and resolve all issues and disputes through various support functions. 
  • Product Knowledge and Promotion: Stay updated on product features, specifications, and benefits. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop promotional materials and campaigns tailored to the needs of independent rental yard customers.
  • Negotiation and Pricing: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with customers to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive pricing strategies within Volvo CE approved parameters.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, and customer service to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies and exceptional customer experience.  
    • Foster a good working and trust relationship with Volvo Dealers within the Region, while developing win-win scenarios and coexistence. 
    • Develop and implement EMOB strategy to existing and future target companies
      • Review and track Sales Orders for IRA
    • Manage Stock and Fleet Planning activities for Served Market Channel 
      • Work with IRAs to increase market share in Volvo products offered.
      • Devise and execute marketing plan to introduce new Volvo products to IRA as permitted.
      • Forecast Demand on a timely basis.
      • Review and track Sales Orders for NRA
      • Responsible for coordinating service, parts support, and sales training as needed to support accounts.
    • Coordination of Efforts in Territory 
      • Work across Functions and Regions to maximize good co-operation and results.
      • Ensure uninterrupted co-existence in territory of Channels. 
    • Arrange and attend Trade Shows to support sales of Volvo products. 
    • Understand and manage Volvo internal processes and activities.

  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly understand complex issues. Considers broad range of relevant information to identify alternatives and reach conclusions. Anticipates market trends and initiates strategies to take advantage of the changes.

Who are you?

Required knowledge, experience, and education:
 

  • Minimum 5 years practical working experience Construction Equipment Industry 
  • Direct selling and negotiation skills
  • Professional construction equipment product / marketing experience is an asset
  • Sales experience with Rental Accounts will be heavily considered 
  • Good financial acumen 
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, finance, or management 
  • Extensive industry experience and knowledge may be considered in lieu of degree requirements in exceptional circumstances 


Additional Important Requirements:

  • Ability to work from home office or office environment 
  • Able to perform duties effectively in a fast paced environment whether working autonomously or under direction 
  • Extensive travel (60% or more) may be required 
  • Must be able to travel to US and Canada
  • Evening and weekend work required
